The National Minorities Day was marked on Saturday, December 18, by a public diplomacy event, at the National Village Museum „Dimitrie Gusti” in Bucharest. The event took place in the presence of numerous representatives of representative institutions for intercultural dialogue in Romania. According to the organizers, the messages focused on „the importance of values such as tolerance, respect and peace, as fundamental values for the budget of Romanian culture.” Presidential Adviser Sergiu Nistor, Secretary of State for the Department of Interethnic Relations Lacziko Enikő Katalin, Undersecretary of State for the Ministry of Culture Irina Cajal, UDMR Vice President Csilla Hegedüs and the manager of the National Village Museum „Dimitrie Gusti”, conf. Dr. Paula Popoiu.
The Democratic Union of Turkish-Muslim Tatars in Romania was represented by Denis Hairedin, president of the Bucharest organization.
The artistic component of the event was provided by ensembles and artists of minorities: the „Asteria” Ensemble of the Hellenic Union in Romania, the „Vartavar” Ensemble of the Armenian Union in Romania, the Ensemble of the Italian Association in Romania, the „Hora” Ensemble of the Jewish Community Center, Tenzi Forray Romanitan – soprano and Ștefan Tajti – violin.
Also during the event that celebrated the National Minorities Day in Romania, documentaries about ethnic communities were presented and the opening of the exhibition „Seasons in the country” of students from grades V – XII from the Theoretical High School „Dante Alighieri” in Bucharest took place.
