Starting with 2015, on 14th of November, Dobrogea Day is officially celebrated, a holiday enshrined by Law no. 230/2015. Among the 27 initiators of the law was the deputy of the Democratic Union of Turkish-Muslim Tatars in Romania, Varol Amet.
The choice of 14th of November to mark the „Dobrogea Day” was due to the fact that on this date, in 1878, the union of Dobrogea with Romania took place. Also on November 14, 1878, Prince Carol The First launched the „Proclamation to the Dobrogeans” and the „High Agenda.” Among the important aspects mentioned in the proclamation are the call for mutual respect and good understanding between the people of Dobrogea, regardless of ethnicity, as well as the assurances given by Carol The First regarding the equal rights that all Dobrogeans will enjoy, regardless of ethnicity.
On this occasion, the deputy prefect of Constanța county, Secyl Suliman, participated on Sunday, 14th of November, together with the president of the Constanța County Council, Mihai Lupu, and the deputy mayor of Constanța, Ionuț Rusu, at the military ceremony organized at the Independence Monument laid a wreath of flowers in honor of the martyred heroes who sacrificed themselves for the reunification of the country.
On the eve of the holiday, the Democratic Union of Turkish-Muslim Tatars in Romania, an organization that has officially represented the ethnic Tatars in Romania for over three decades, urges all Dobrogean residents to carry on the multicultural spirit of this land, to preserve and promote their identity values and remain the same loyal citizens of the country.
Happy birthday, Dobrogea!
