The UDTTMR Congress took place on Saturday, 11th of September, and the president of the organization was appointed within the group.
After returning to the Council of National Minorities following the December 2020 parliamentary elections when Varol Amet was appointed deputy, and after regaining possession of funding from the Romanian Government, the Democratic Union of Turkish-Muslim Tatars in Romania has starting Saturday, 11th of September, a new leadership, too. According to the statute in force at the Court, 161 delegates were appointed for the UDTTMR congress, all of them present to approve the activity reports of the president, deputy and advisers, to approve the composition of the Council of Representatives consisting of 97 representatives of all branches of the Union and to elect the President of the UDTTMR for the next four years. Thus, Gelil Eserghep was reconfirmed as President with one abstention, taking over the leadership of the organization for the first time in 2012.
Today’s UDTTMR Congress was attended by guests from Eskișehir, Turkey, from the „Association for the Culture and Assistance of Crimean Emigrants from Dobrogea”, Muurat Iusuf, who opened a religious service, Deputy Prefect Secyl Suliman, and President of Constanța County Council, Mihai Lupu, who sent an appreciative message to the entire Tatar community and the way it has been run from 2012 until now.
